John F. Kostyo

John Kostyo earned the Degree of Juris Doctor from the Case Western Reserve University, Franklin Thomas Backus School of Law in 1981. He is admitted to practice before Ohio courts, The United States Supreme Court, and United States Federal District Courts for the Northern District of Ohio, the Southern District of Ohio, the Eastern District of Michigan, the Western District of Michigan and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree, magna cum laude, from John Carroll University in 1978.

John maintains a general civil practice of law with experience in all phases of civil litigation. His primary areas of practice include the protection of creditor rights, representation of commercial construction firms, civil litigation, contracts and commercial transactions including mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Kostyo has extensive experience in alternate dispute resolution, mediation and negotiated settlements.

He has represented financial interests in over three thousand bankruptcy matters in the Bankruptcy Courts of Ohio and Michigan. He has also served as counsel or as a settlement agent in several thousand consumer and commercial loan transactions.

John taught "Business Law: Contracts and Negotiable Instruments" at Findlay College and The University of Findlay as a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer from 1981 to 1996. He is a frequent speaker at seminars on commercial lending, lender liability, commercial loan documentation, commercial real estate transactions, creditor bankruptcy and foreclosure litigation.

John is a member of the American Bar Association, the Ohio Bar Association, the Toledo Bar Association and the Findlay/Hancock County Bar Association.
